Summer, sun, weekend!

SummerPictureIt’s summer, nice, holiday – and the business is running great…

Met a few people today, that were the right ones to get the idea behind datamart.eu to be realized. They were interested in a collaboration as well, so we will get into business when we get the current assignments sorted a bit.
Life is good!

Eclipse is good…

2006

Today, I’ve had a comparison between Eclipse and several other tools. Eclipse is THE tool to work with!

There is only one single glitch: The preinstalled version found in Ubuntu is unable to compile the classes I’ve written. The rest of the package is working excellent, and the package is correcting my spwlling errors, so I really dont bother too much about the compiling of the programs.

Modelling is good…

UMLAt the takeover of Damsgard IKT, It was discovered that all software produced were made without drawings or other data models of anything (or so the programmers said). This is the definition of insane, wrong modelling – and something that is slowing down the production of information to the customers.

At the same time, it is a excellent lecture for the new modellers and programmers, they get a crash course in modelling and how to avoid the things the old programmers did wrong…

Repeat, repeat, repeat…

Eclipse logoEclipse is a really good tool, I thought I’d give it a go today – start on making a different interface for controlling the Talking Managers. Haven’t been using Eclipse for over a year, there is some small bits and pieces left behind. One of the good things about it is the posibility to repeat – Eclipse was last repeated last time I was lecturing in Java, it is almost a year ago.

Hopefully, Java has not changed too much the last year – and Eclipse either…

Warning: Gardermoen Gjestegård is bad, keep out of there!

Letohallen (c) letohallen.noFriday, saturday and sunday, my wife and I tried to attent a meeting at Letohallen, near Dal, Norway. We arrived thursdag, booked in at Gardermoen GjestegÃ¥rd a year in advance. All was fine at the inn, except three small things the commercials did not tell about: The first thing was that the inn did not tell it was located almost directly below the take-off area of Gardermoen Airport. The second was the location, the inn is close to a highly trafficated road with trailers passing all night. The third was the lack of ventilation, forcing us to sleep with the windows open. Bad combination…

A possible opening for a new company

2006

map of solutionsMovieI have been registered at Aetat, Stepstone and several other companies the last twenty years. The total amount of time spent with it is on the bad side of 200 hours. Monday I got the second responce on all the registrations, a responce from somebody looking at my registration at aetat.no.

The result is that the company want my collaboration (see datamart.eu) to do some work, get involved in something.
It’s good to be in a upgoing drive, being able to pick and choose between jobs… ;-)
