Encrypted filesystem in Debian Lenny (5)

2009

Just had a small laptop breakdown, where Windows wrote a BSOD – memory dump to the unencrypted Ubuntu partition. The backup was a week old, so fortunately the blogpost about encrypted filesystems in Ubuntu 8.10 work just as well in Debian Lenny :-D

8th weekly session

2009
03.26

The 8th session was the longest so far. The workout was a new one – new instructor and the program was a weightlifting program. I felt like the workout guy here. According to the trainers at the gym, the most efficient exercises are those where you workout the body in a new way. The weightlifting program found some arm / back muscles previously unnoticed – “Teres Minor” and others. Today I can hardly lift my arms due to stiff shoulder muscles and more..

Nice to feel that they want to not overlook some parts of the body – since all diets are trying to make your body loose muscle mass instead of fat.

Where are the aid for Windows addicts?

2009
03.22

There are help and support groups for people suffering from several addictions: Firefox addicts, Ubuntu addicts, BSD addicts – but none for Windows addicts..

Is Windows – addicts a helpless, and thereby uncureable grup? Are they lost without hope?

All I know is: The most common PC user is using a version of Windows. This should imply one of two things:

  • A huge level of self-denial among the Windows addicts
  • The addiction are self-cured by considerate persons at Redmond – making Windows break down at irregular intervals – and thereby curing people for there addictions.

IE8 – testresults

2009
03.21

Tested IE8 today and yesterday. The results are just as thrust-worthy as good old Windows ME: There are a few lacking features that make the thing a piece of garbage.

Personally, I loved ME. It was the epitome of Microsoft – filled tot he rim with nice features, and working stably when you found how to turn all the new features off.

IE8 was just as great. The installer took a long time to run each time, due to its demand to scan the computer for malicious software. The only thing failing with the installer, was the “install IE8″-step.

ie7-troubleshootingThe only change on the computer was a small web link on the desktop, to a page about troubleshooting failed installations of IE7. The web link was on a mixed-language site, but I suppose you’ll be able to read it – the relevant section is in English..

The most effective way to get in shape

2009
03.19

The workout above is hilarious, but there are one thing missing: How often should you / Jim Carrey work out – and get benefit from it?

Have been working out for 9 months now, the initial 5 was wasted. The reason: (more…)

One bad thing about the Xtravaganza diet

toxic yums

According to a detoxification website, Aspartame is the common denominator for over 92 different health symptoms at the root of modern disease. Wikipedia got two articles about it: One  controversal and one neutral.

Sorry to say, but every soup, every shaker, everything in the Xtravlcd – system is based on Aspartane.

Am glad the “half speed” system is almost over for me..

The Norwegian newspaper VG got a summary of the health effect of exercise. At helse.no there are another article, am beginning to think that the workout-bit of Xtravaganza is not the worst thing to do after all..
