It’s time for a upgrade of the blog. This time, the entire Wordpress have been reinstalled, with some of the plugins.
Main reason for the upgrade: The Clean Options Plugin did mess up parts of the database.
Positive side-effect: The blog got cleaner HTML, XML and stylesheets, so it validates on all standards it’s using.
Negative side-effect: Support for Internet Explorer before IE7 are removed, the extra tags required was a major part of what made the “dirty” HTML and stylesheets.
Tested IE8 today and yesterday. The results are just as thrust-worthy as good old Windows ME: There are a few lacking features that make the thing a piece of garbage.
Personally, I loved ME. It was the epitome of Microsoft – filled tot he rim with nice features, and working stably when you found how to turn all the new features off.
IE8 was just as great. The installer took a long time to run each time, due to its demand to scan the computer for malicious software. The only thing failing with the installer, was the “install IE8″-step.
The only change on the computer was a small web link on the desktop, to a page about troubleshooting failed installations of IE7. The web link was on a mixed-language site, but I suppose you’ll be able to read it – the relevant section is in English..
Sorry to say, but there are a reason why Microsoft is having problems at the moment.. One of the issues is the general arrogance when it comes to following normal ways of conducting business, another issue is the vendor lockout: If you dont make your website follow M$-webstandards, including the M$ security exploits, then..

If you’re running a halfway dated version of IE, then you’ll see a small bit about Firefox.
If you’re running a old version of IE, then you wont see the content of the site.
It’s just a small protest against the old IE, the newer version follow the standards a bit better than the old ones – so let’s just hope M$ dont get worse..
